Pressure Washing

When it comes to commercial pressure washing, there are several factors that our team considers when choosing to use hot water versus cold water.

Cold Water

For many cleaning jobs, cold water is the right choice. Most dirt and dust can’t withstand a pressure washer in general, no matter the temperature, and it’s even more true if you incorporate the use of soap.

Cold water will also likely do the trick if the project involves a newer building with less grime built up. It’s also suitable for vehicles that aren’t used on a very regular basis.

Cold water can be used on concrete, stone, and other hard surfaces. Suppose you have a number of surfaces that need to be cleaned quickly that are all situated in one area. In that case, a cold pressure washer could be the better choice because it can switch between different surfaces easily without being harsh on any of the surfaces.

Cold water is great for minor jobs such as loose paint, dirt build-up, and mildew. But, when you need a more intensive clean or when grease is involved, you’ll want to use hot water.

Hot Water

Hot water is quite obviously a more powerful choice than cold water and it can oftentimes do the trick alone, without having to use soap or chemicals. There’s a reason why hot water is used in dishwashers, car washes, and laundry machines. That’s because hot water is more effective on greasy or oily surfaces.

Hot water breaks down grease and oil, while cold water can harden them. That’s important to note that hardened fats are more difficult to rinse clean and can prolong the cleaning process.

Hot water, combined with the power of a pressure washing machine, is sure to clean nearly anything. It can scrub off dust, dirt, mud, and other particles from almost any surface. The heating element in a pressure washing machine heats the water so that it’s hot enough to dissolve grease and cut through different oils.

Many companies can benefit from professional hot pressure washing, especially if they’re regularly exposed to grease and oil.
